The ASAO Community Performance Troupe participated in the 2023 return of EUP Reads! Dancers took turns reading stories, performing dance routines, and sharing their love for reading with many community members! We thank Lori Jodoin for the great opportunity!
A few of the ASAO Community Performers visited 3 local preschools in the 2022-2023 season, introducing young dancers to their love of dance! From group warmup to action dances, and some fun 1:1 acro dance stations - these visits were so fun at Little Lambs Immanual Lutheran Preschool, Algonquin Preschool, and Brimley Preschool!
National Dance Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit that serves as a launching pad and community for Dancers and Dance Organizations. National Dance Foundation also promotes using dance as a vehicle for motivating and helping to create positive attitudes and actions. This along with the goal to offer performance opportunities for special needs dancers plus creating awareness and encouraging Kindness, Inclusion and Community. The ASAO Community Performers are participating in the National Dance Week Celebration Flash Mob. See them on YouTube April 14-23.
ASAO's Community Performance Troupe & guests from the Competition Team joined the cast of the event to raise money for Hospice of the EUP, by performing 5 routines to be added to the annual repertoire.
ASAO's Community Performance Troupe & Pas de Deux Team spent reading month 2021 creating a Youtube series for our dancers to hear books about dance! This tradition continues each March!
ASAO's Community Performance Troupe & Pas de Deux Team created a TikTok series in 2021 to educate the public on different styles of recreational dance!
ASAO's Elite Performers (Competition Team & Community Performance Troupe) are featured in the 2021 Parade to celebrate the lighting of the town's Christmas Tree on the grounds of City Hall. Dancers dress up as Glow Stick People for this fun, chilly event!
The 2021-2022 ASAO Community Performance Troupe made their debut a the Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church and Little Lambs Early Childhood Center's first ever Fall Festival! The team performed a routine themed with Halloween Candy and a full set of fun action dances.
In 2020, the ASAO Community Performers assisted in organizing and narrating a socially distant, in-studio filming of holiday routines for community members to enjoy virtually.
Each fall since 2019, the Pickford PTA has welcomed ASAO DJ & Performance Troupe as entertainment for their annual Trail of Treats! Our dancers have a blast passing out candy while performing fun routines and group line dances kids can jump into!
The 2018-2019 ASAO Community Performance Troupe made their debut a the Downtown Development Authority's Halloween Spooktacular. Each season since, our group of dancers celebrate their new friends at the beginning of the new school year with this event! ASAO is thrilled to be involved in the community this way!
Thank you to David Brey of the United Way for invited the ASAO Performers to the Farmer's Market for some summertime fun! ASAO Dancers are frequent patrons of the market between summer classes, so to get to dance in the event was quite the thrill! ASAO has participated in this event various times throughout the summer since 2019.
Since 2019, ASAO Staff have volunteered each summer at the Pickford Community Library. After reading a story (or three), dancers encourage attendees to participate in some dances related to the books!

The ASAO Performance Teams, coached & choreographed by Ashley, have participated in the major productions for the Guild both 2017 & 2018.
In The Neverending Story (2017), ASAO dancers performed as "The Nothing" as well as "The Darkness" with a dynamic modern routine.
In The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (2018), ASAO dancers performed in partnership with the Guild actors to bring the audience 5 dance routines, ranging from ballet, lyrical, modern, and acrobatic ballroom.
This event was a fundraiser for the Bethel Lutheran Church of Cedarville. Funds raised are for the church's Youth Group to go on a Mission Trip to Texas.
In 2018, ASAO Performance Teams provided 5 numbers: group jazz, group acrobatic ballroom, solo lyrical/contemporary, duet acrobatic contemporary, and some fun crowd-integrated line dancing!
The ASAO Performers returned in 2019, bringing another set of dynamic routines and fun dances to get the crowd moving and grooving! Check our these videos on our Facebook page!
In 2017, The Sault Events relaunched The Festival of Trees as a fundraiser for the Chippewa Family Project, dedicated to building a group home for homeless teens. Event Coordinator Mary Jo DuVall invited all local dance companies to work together in providing a showcase of area performing art while auctioning fully decorated holiday trees.
in 2017, ASAO Performers showcased 2 dances, in Acrobatic Ballroom, stylized by Swing Dance & Waltz. ASAO DJ Darryl choreographed a Christmas Tree's lights to sync with the dancer's movements in the Waltz performance.
In 2019, ASAO Performers returned with 3 routines. Choreographed by the dancers themselves, a Contemporary Hip Hop, an Acrobatic Waltz, and a Swing/ Jive were featured.
In 2016, Paul Perry teamed up with Country Superstars Doug Supernaw & Bobby Randall to put on a concert dedicated to the movie that inspired Country Line Dancing across the states - Urban Cowboy.
ASAO Performance Teams learned 17 Line Dances and 5 Acrobatic Ballroom Routines. Ashley worked with dance captains Carrie Novak & Levi McFarland over headsets throughout the evening, as dancers learned to perform on the fly! Dancers were placed alongside the superstars on stage for 3 nights.
Each year since 2016, Ashley & Darryl host a table at the Walmart Vision Center Health & Wellness Fair. In 2017 & 2018, Megan Smart & Lynn Carrick attended & performed to showcase the Country Swing curriculum offered in ASAO Acrobatic Ballroom Lessons.
Ashley & Darryl attended the Mackinaw City Bridal Show in 2018 to round up some Wedding Business. ASAO Performers McKenna & Zach Blyly attended to show prospective clients some of the dance moves that we teach in our Wedding Dance Lesson program.
Ashley has volunteered at the Senior Grad Party for 2017 & 2018 as a chaperone and activity host. Both years she featured a lesson in both line & partner dancing, with country-swing elements.
